For 2009, the BMW 5 Series
As with the previous model year, the 2009 5 Series models feature the engines introduced in the 3 Series: the 230-horsepower iteration of BMW's remarkable aluminum/magnesium composite N52 engine, which appears in the 528i and 528i
xDrive Sedans (starting at $45,500); and the 300-horsepower N54 twin-turbo inline-6 that appears in the 535i and 535i xDrive Sedans (starting at $50,800) and Sports Wagon (starting at $55,400). The 550i Sedan (starting at $60,000) is available again for 2009, retaining the 360-horsepower 4.8-liter V-8 engine of the previous year.
